POSITION: Teacher

 

POSITION SUMMARY: Provide instruction, in conjunction with school personnel, to students who are on home/hospital program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 Kentucky Special Education teaching certificate required. Dual Certification preferred. 

 

 Experience and such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may   find appropriate and acceptable.

 

REPORTS TO:  Director of Pupil Personnel

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrates proficiency in planning developmentally appropriate, research-based instruction that addresses Kentucky's learning goals and outcomes for
  • Creates and maintains a learning climate that supports student academic expectations
  • Implements developmentally appropriate, teaching and learning activities that implement the six learning goals of education reform
    1. Applying basic communication and mathematics skills;
    2. Applying core concepts from an major subject areas;
    3. Becoming a self-sufficient individual;
    4. Becoming a responsible member of a family, work group or community;
    5. Thinking and problem-solving; and
    6. Connecting and integrating new experiences and knowledge.
  • Assists the administration in implementing Board policies, and administrative regulations, council policies and school rules governing student life and conduct, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure.
  • Evaluates specific teaching/learning situations and communicates to students and others (documents, progress through anecdotal records, student-teacher conferences, and portfolios).
  • Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
  • Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
  • Performs professional responsibilities and duties as outlined in Board policy, such as regular attendance, punctuality, attending staff meetings, serving on committees, and accepts a share of responsibility for extra-curricular activities, professional development and professional growth.
  • Demonstrates effective collaboration skills among peers, subordinates, supervisors, students, and parents.
  • Demonstrates teaching conduct consistent with missions to which school council, local Board, and State Board for Elementary and Secondary Education are committed.
  • Plans and supervises purposefully for instructional assistants and volunteers and cooperatively with department heads or leaders, instructional and guidance facilitators, evaluates his/her job performance.
  • Evaluates own overall performance to model/teach keep learning goals and implements a program of professional development.
  • Promotes self-discipline and self-control.
  • Aids in the administration of group standardized tests in accordance with the district or state regulations.
  • Performs any other such duties as designated by the immediate supervisor/Principal.

 

Instructional Requirements
To maintain the student's status and funding, the following instructional standards must be met:
  • Certified Teacher: Instruction must be provided by a teacher certified by the board of education.
  • Session Frequency: A minimum of two instructional sessions per week is required.
  • Session Duration: Each session must be at least one hour.
  • Supplementary Learning: Students may also participate in virtual or online courses. However, Non-Traditional Instructional (NTI) days cannot be used to satisfy the required one-hour teacher visit.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
