School Custodian

 

The School Custodian is responsible for cleaning designated sections of the building after school hours and/or while students are in session.  During summer months the custodian works as an integral part of the custodial team to clean and maintain the MSES campus.

 

The Custodian uses the necessary supplies and equipment for all cleaning and maintenance of the building and grounds by working directly with the school principal and head custodian.

 

Some of the duties required are as follows:

• Clean all areas of the school campus
• Report the need for cleaning supplies to the head custodian
• Follow all safety records such as OSHA and MSDS
• Report building needs and performing basic building maintenance
• Ensure all reported work is performed and complete
• Monitor campus lighting and replacing bulbs
• Garbage removal from the building
• Playground cleaning and maintenance
• Lifting items such as:  school furniture, supplies, paper, cleaning equipment, etc.
• Maintain all cleaning equipment and report needed repairs

The above is a general list of job duties and responsibilities.  Job duties and responsibilities are subject to change.  Additional duties may be assigned at any time by the principal or designee.  Work times and schedules may be adjusted to meet the cleaning needs of the building.  During Summer Break, Fall Break, Winter Break, and Spring Break, this positoin will be daytime shift.  During the day students are in session, this position will be adjusted to meet the clening needs of the school which could include mid-day shift or evening shift.
